Alexandra Ballesteros
As a Los Angeles native, Alexandra has always been very passionate about the communities and the natural habitats of the greater Los Angeles area. Her passion for nature and environmental justice pushed her to earn a BS in environmental science from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Before coming to LA Waterkeeper, Alexandra had the opportunity to work in a community-centered environmental remediation project in Southeast Los Angeles that focused on remediating and restoring contaminated soil in public and private properties. She also previously worked as an environmental health and safety supervisor for a metal finishing company where she was able to gain firsthand experience in the world of stormwater compliance.
Growing up in a community that frequently experienced environmental injustices, Alexandra has focused her career on helping these communities through environmental and community work. She finds environmental work very rewarding and is very grateful to be able to play a role in an organization like LAW and the amazing work it accomplishes. She is hopeful that Los Angeles will soon become a more sustainable and eco-conscious city.
Outside of work, Alexandra can be found walking her Maltipoo named Cat or listening to records on her record player.
