Alexandra Ballesteros

As a Los Angeles native, Alexandra has always been very passionate about the communities and the natural habitats of the greater Los Angeles area. Alex is able to share this passion with LA Waterkeeper as a Stormwater Compliance Manager where she helps track and manage litigation cases for the organization so that clean, non-polluted stormwater can be achieved throughout the L.A. area. Her focus in this role is to not only improve stormwater quality in the region, but to also shift the industry culture to achieve compliance for generations to come.

Growing up in a community that frequently experienced environmental injustices, Alex has focused her career on helping these communities through environmental and community work. She finds environmental work rewarding and is very grateful to be able to play a role in an organization like LAW. Alex is hopeful that Los Angeles will soon become a more sustainable and eco-conscious city.

Alex holds a BS in environmental science from Northern Arizona University. Before coming to LA Waterkeeper, Alex had the opportunity to work in a community-centered environmental remediation project in Southeast Los Angeles that focused on remediating and restoring contaminated soil in public and private properties. She also previously worked as an environmental health and safety supervisor for a metal finishing company where she was able to gain firsthand experience in the world of stormwater compliance.
