Madeleine Siegel

Madeleine is dedicated to advocating for people and the environment in her hometown of Los Angeles. Currently a doctoral candidate at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, she has contributed to research on how communities view ocean-based climate solutions, marine restoration, and kelp aquaculture.

Previously, Madeleine conducted research at the New York Attorney General’s Environmental Protection Bureau and at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law. She has also worked as an environmental educator at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and as a project manager building multiacre rooftop farms with Brooklyn Grange. Madeleine earned her Master of Science from Columbia University’s Earth Institute and her Bachelor of Science from UC Berkeley’s College of Natural Resources.

Her writing has appeared in the Los Angeles Times and in UCLA’s Climate Currents.
