Maggie Gardner

Maggie is excited to join Los Angeles Waterkeeper to contribute to LA Waterkeeper’s work to improve water management through systems change. Maggie completed her BA in Environmental Biology at Washington University in St. Louis and then went on to work in different facets of the environmental field, including completing a service year with AmeriCorps and teaching environmental education. While working in the area of land conservation, she became interested in the benefits of green stormwater infrastructure after seeing how impactful nature-based solutions could be. Maggie completed a master’s program in Civil Engineering focused on Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure Systems at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she worked on a resource inventory for a watershed planning process and a literature review on the impact of stormwater infrastructure on hydrology and water quality. Those experiences further cemented her passion for green stormwater infrastructure projects.

Outside of work, Maggie is an avid runner and swimmer and can’t wait to explore all of the nature that Southern California has to offer.
